The J. S. Latta Company originated in Cedar Falls, Iowa and was founded by John Stewart Latta’s in 1898 serving schools, teachers, and children. The Huntington branch J. S Latta Inc. was opened in 1931 in Huntington, WV across the street from Marshall University’s Old Main.

Mike Mullarky a 3rd generation operator continued the business as Latta’s School Supply since 1997.

The company employees 10 individuals providing design, sales, installation services for everything from the classroom to the playground. In 2017 Latta’s transitioned to focus on school furnishings and playgrounds after the closure of the retail store in 2017. Presently we operate under the name Latta’s School Furnishings & Playgrounds delivering the latest products in the Education Industry to our customers. Our office is located at 1502 4th Ave block from Marshall University.

Mission: Latta’s School Furnishings & Playgrounds is dedicated to supporting our customer base providing educational products to develop the mental and physical needs of children. Our Mission is to provide innovative products to educators, students, and children. We assist in the learning process by offering ideas and creative solutions with the products we represent. Our passion is fueled by the opportunity to employ individuals in our community working in the process of recovery.

Each playground, piece of play equipment or play structure is designed and installed with a certified playground inspector assigned to your project. We specialize in repairs, safety surfacing, site amenities and the installation of anything we sell.
